Babel listens with your phone, translates with Claude, and speaks with your phone's own voice. The only thing it needs from you is an API key, which is how Claude knows the translations are yours to pay for. It costs a fraction of a cent per sentence.
Go to console.anthropic.com and sign in (or create an account).
Under Billing, add a small amount of credit. Five dollars will last months.
Under API Keys, choose Create Key, name it anything, and copy it.

Quick answers faster; Careful has the better ear for idiom and register. Conversation usually wants Quick, composed messages Careful. Each tab uses its own.
If the English sounds odd, try another voice here. The Mandarin voice is chosen automatically.
Listening and translating both need a connection. Nothing is stored anywhere except on this phone: the conversation and the key never leave it, apart from the text sent to Claude for translation.
